Action Against Hunger is a recognized leader in the fight against hunger, with 45 years of working in communities and pioneering research and innovation.

Recognized for Transparency and Efficiency

Action Against Hunger has been recognized for its strong governance practices, including through 4-star ratings for 18 years running from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the highest level of recognition, reflecting the organization’s sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

In addition, these other charity evaluators have recognized our organizational and financial health:

• Charity Watch qualifies Action Against Hunger as a “top-rated hunger organization,” awarding our organization an “A” rating.
• Guidestar offers a third party, independent assessment of Action Against Hunger as a “Platinum participant” nonprofit.
• The InterAction Member Standards seal is a significant mark of recognition to meet InterAction’s standards and emphasize our organization’s legitimacy in the vital areas of governance, financial management, and program performance.

Impact and Innovation Awards

In 2024, Action Against Hunger won the following awards:

• One Silver and two Gold w3 Awards, which recognize creative excellence on the web, in the non-profit category. We won a Gold in the category “General Video: Non-Profit” for our video “Be Part of the Story: Let’s End Hunger for Everyone, For Good.” We also won a Gold in the category “General Video: Non-Profit” and a Silver in the category “General Video: Cause Awareness” for the video “How Conflict Disrupts Communities and Drives Humanitarian Crises.”
• Two Silver Anthem Awards: In the category “Best Use of Technology,” we were awarded for the REact: Renewable Energies for Assisting Communities Tool. In the category “Research Projects or Publications,” we were awarded for our Severe Acute Malnutrition Relapse Research.
• Action Against Hunger was selected as a Causeway Fund Organization and included in the Causeway Global Health Fund. Causeway is a platform on Charity Navigator designed to simplify donor giving. It includes managed charitable funds focused on addressing key causes that donors care about.

In 2023, Action Against Hunger earned the following recognition:

• Our website won a Gold w3 Award.
• SAM Photo App, our potentially lifesaving mobile application for detecting acute malnutrition in children, received the Gold Anthem Award for Best Humanitarian Action & Services Innovation. The ground-breaking app was also named a finalist in Fast Company’s 2023 World Changing Ideas Awards.

In 2022, we were awarded the silver prize at the inaugural Anthem Awards for our communications and fundraising work to end global hunger. Action Against Hunger also was honored by the 2021 PRWeek Purpose Awards for our inspiring global hunger awareness campaign.

For 45 years, Action Against Hunger has been at the forefront of global hunger research. Our teams work in over 55 countries globally, co-creating innovative solutions with the communities we serve. Together, we pilot new approaches to end hunger, combat malnutrition, end gender inequality, prevent illness, provide clean water, and so much more.
