Famine Declared in Sudan
In Italy, over 5.7 million people, including 1.3 million children, live in poverty. Rising food prices and inadequate public policies are pushing more people into vulnerability, forcing families to adopt strategies that compromise their nutrition, health, and long-term stability.
We address the food insecurity crisis in Italy through our Mai Più Fame (No More Hunger) program, which currently operates in Milan and Naples and is expanding to more cities. Our teams provide immediate assistance combined with long-term empowerment, including food support, nutrition education, and employment training. In partnership with local actors, we identify vulnerable families and deliver tailored support. Families are supported with prepaid food cards and guidance on healthy eating. We also provide workshops, one-on-one nutrition support, and employment training, which have led to new job placements and the creation of businesses.
At the national level, Action Against Hunger advocates for structural solutions to food insecurity and poverty. We work alongside institutions and civil society to promote equitable, sustainable, and dignified access to food and to implement adequate welfare policies for all.
