Mare Fort – Chief People and Strategy Officer & Acting Regional Director

Mare Fort joined Action Against Hunger in July 2020 and serves as the Chief People and Strategy Officer & Acting Regional Director. In her role, she works closely with the organization’s CEO on the strategic development and operational implementation of employee programs and services, as well as leadership development.

Originally from Peru, Ms. Fort brings almost 30 years of experience in international development, with increasing responsibilities in program quality and impact, program operations, people, culture, and strategy development and execution. Ms. Fort worked at several organizations in human rights, social research, and academia before joining CARE, where she held several positions, including Global Senior Advisor for Knowledge Sharing and Global Talent Strategies, Deputy Regional Director Program quality for the Asia region, Regional Director for Latin America & the Caribbean, and Vice President of People and Culture.

Ms. Fort earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Science with a major in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University in Peru (PUCP), and a master’s degree in Development Studies from Erasmus University’s Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands.

She is based out of Action Against Hunger’s office in New York City.
